Researchers, whose study was published in Circulation, followed over 4,200 men and women aged 73 and over. Ten years of research revealed that people who walked faster and kept at it longer suffered fewer incidences of stroke and heart disease.

How far and how fast must you walk? If you walk faster than 20 minutes per mile and log at least .5 miles, you can decrease your risk of cardiovascular disease by at least 50%, say scientists. Lace up those shoes, grab a friend, and enjoy a brisk walk!
