How to join the 1%

Are you among the 1%?  (No, I'm not asking if you keep company with the wealthiest 1% of Americans, but if you do, kudos to you).  I'm referring to the 1% of Americans who actually look at a food label long enough to process its information.  According to the Journal of the American Dietetic Association, the majority of us could use a bit of help.

What's the number one change you could make to improve your odds of understanding just how much fat, sugar, salt, or other ingredients are in your favorite can of soup, frozen dinner, or crunchy crackers?  Take a good look at the serving size.  Most food producers vastly underestimate how much of their product you will consume so the label will look good to you.  What a dirty trick!  Don't be duped next time.

Oh, and remember, the healthiest foods tend to be label-free!  Stock up on fresh meats and produce and you'll be able to forgo interpreting the pesky nutrition label all together, and you'll be feeding your body well.
