The key to weight loss
What's an important key to weight loss? RMR. RMR stands for Resting Metabolic Rate, or the calories you burn while at rest. You know what else? It accounts for 60-75% of the total calories you burn each day.
Bumping up the number of calories you burn throughout the day is a smart weight loss strategy, and you can do it by exercising and building lean muscle mass, or strength training.
If you burn approximately 2,000 calories per day and you are able to increase your RMR by just 5%, you can lose between 6 and 8 pounds over the course of a year (while sitting on the couch). Boost your RMR up to 10% and you will burn an extra 12 to 16 pounds per year.
Here's the only catch. (I know. There's always a catch). Boosting RMR takes time and focus. Idea Fitness Journal reports you need to work on strengthening those muscles for a minimum of 1-2 months before seeing any results.
Stick with it, ladies. Nothing comes for free.
